FIFA Technical Experts’ Workshop kicked off in Doha yesterday with the participation of 100 experts and coaches from the various national federations under the umbrella of the FIFA.
The workshop was moderated by FIFA Technical Director Steven Martens and was attended by French international training legend Arsene Wenger, German coach Erich Rutemoller, American coach April Heinrichs and English coach Steve McClaren.
Addressing the opening session, Secretary-General of Qatar Football Association Mansoor al-Ansari expressed pleasure for hosting the event for the second consecutive year, bringing together experts from around the world.
Al-Ansari said Qatar’s hosting of such major events reflects its commitment to positively contribute to developing the technical expertise in the region and the world, and affirms that the State of Qatar has become an important sporting hub in the world of football, noting Qatar’s organisation of several major sports events and workshop, and most importantly its preparation to host the biggest event in the world of football which is the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
For his part, FIFA Technical Director Steven Martens extended thanks to Qatar Football Association for the distinguished organisation, the great media attention and the logistic support which has been provided by the State in order to achieve an ideal success for FIFA workshops.
Doha hosted the first FIFA Technical Experts’ Workshop in January 2018, as part of four seminars that the FIFA chose to hold in Qatar.
Doha hosted the FIFA World Cup Russia Referees Seminar in 2018; and the FIFA Women’s World Cup France Refereeing Seminar.
