Qatar Chamber (QC) Board of Directors member and President of Health Committee, Ibtihaj al-Ahmadani, has noted that Qatar’s health system ranks among the top in the world, adding that the current year saw the launch of the Dental Medicine College at Qatar University.
Delivering a speech at the opening of The International Conference of Aesthetic Dentistry, Laser and Dental Implants iLED 2019 on Friday at Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel, Ibtihaj al-Ahmadani said the government has exerted tireless efforts to develop the health sector through allocating appropriate budget every year, she said.
She said that in 2019 budget, about QR22.7bn was allocated for the healthcare sector, representing 11% of the total expenditure. Major projects to improve healthcare services included expansions in Hamad Medical Corporation facilities, national laboratories, as well as the establishment of new health centres in the country.
Organised for the first time in Qatar, the event was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad bin J al-Thani, Director of Public Health.
Al-Ahmadani stressed the role played by Qatar Chamber in developing the healthcare sector in the country, noting that it sought to enhance co-operation with several bodies to discuss issues related to the sector and to remove obstacles facing its development.
She also elaborated on the role of the Qatar Chamber Health Committee in encouraging the private sector to invest in the medical sector.
“The committee co-operates with all bodies connected to the medical sector with the aim of facilitating procedures of establishing businesses in the private healthcare sector,” she noted.
It provides the private sector with data and information related to the health sector and studies obstacles facing the sector to find appropriate solutions. It also holds seminars, conferences and workshops to activate the sector, she added. - QNA
