A professor and associate dean at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has been elected for a two-year term as the chair of the Sensory Systems Technical Committee at the Circuits and Systems Society (CAS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Dr Amine Bermak’s  (pictured) appointment builds on his prior active engagement with the world’s largest professional organisation for the advancement of technology. The CSE professor’s involvement with the IEEE spans over a decade with him serving in various roles, including as distinguished lecturer and member of the editorial board for a number of prestigious IEEE journals such as IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Sensors, and IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems.
For recognition of his outstanding research in sensors, Dr Bermak was also elected as an IEEE Fellow, the highest distinction within IEEE. As chair of the Sensory Systems Technical Committee, Dr Bermak will lead the development of the CAS in the area of sensors.
