Meeza, a Qatar Foundation joint venture, has underlined its support for the country’s digital transformation strategy as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 to be a knowledge-based society.
Meeza chief executive Engineer Ahmad al-Kuwari said the company has a longstanding relationship with the government, and is working with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) to address the country’s various information technology (IT)-related needs.
“Since the inception of Meeza, we have forged a strong partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. We are the core managed service provider for IT in Qatar,” al-Kuwari told Gulf Times yesterday during Meeza Expansion’s first roundtable discussion with the media.
“Since our integration with the MoTC, we’ve hosted a lot of services and provided many national initiatives and projects to the government, such as the government data centres and the Government Cloud Service, which we launched last April,” al-Kuwari continued.
Meeza Expansion chief executive Ghada Philip el-Rassi said that Meeza Expansion is a fast-growing player in cloud computing services, both in regional and international markets.
It continues to innovate and offer cost-effective IT solutions and services to help its clients focus on their core business.
El-Rassi said Meeza Expansion is tasked with opening new markets and becoming the leading player in the cloud services business, and provide world-class services to their clients.
“Meeza Expansion believes in breaking down barriers with the media to increase public awareness of our business operations, involve all stakeholders with our decision making, and create a more transparent environment that can catalyse success and enhance prosperity of our company in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.”
David Wilds, expansion operations executive at Meeza Expansion, added: “Our primary objective is to simplify the way we do business, so clients can focus on what’s important for their core business.
“We tirelessly work to provide our clients with innovative and cost-effective solutions to help them grow their businesses.”
Asked about Meeza’s role in the MoTC’s ‘Digital Transformation of SMEs’ initiative, el-Rassi said: “Digital transformation is now the trend in the local and global markets. Through the Meeza Business Cloud, we were able to provide all types of required products and solutions, and more are still to come in this platform.
“We are now able to work hand-in-hand with the government to provide all SMEs (small and medium enterprises) and even the much larger companies with various cloud products under Meeza.
“Our cloud is in Qatar and many companies based here are using this technology.”
She added: “Qatar’s SME ecosystem is growing and the most important factor here is the direction of the country. Qatar is well-known as a hydrocarbon country but since the announcement of the Qatar National Vision 2030, it is transforming into a knowledge-based society.
”Society is now dependent on mobility, cloud, and technology, hence the world is changing. Qatar is moving quickly towards this direction, especially digital transformation.
“This is what we are doing and we are ready to provide for the needs of the government and the market.”
