In order to improve its performance and services, the General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Traffic Patrols and Investigation Department, has opened a traffic investigation office at the headquarters of Gulf Takaful Insurance Company.
Announcing the opening, First Lieutenant Hamoud Mubarak al-Shafi, Officer of Traffic Investigation Offices in insurance companies at the Traffic Patrols and Investigation Department, said that the office will provide various services related to the repairing and maintenance of vehicles that got damaged or involved in traffic accidents.
“Services for obtaining accident certificate, paying for the traffic violations, obtaining painting permit and registering unknown accidents can be done through these offices without referring to the Traffic Investigation Department or any other traffic sections,” he said.
The officer added that the office will have an investigation officer who will help customers finish the traffic procedures that follow the proceedings from the insurance company.
This is the sixth investigation office opened by the department at insurance companies. The department, according to First Lieutenant al-Shafi, has plans to open more traffic investigation offices at other insurance companies to alleviate the work pressure on the Traffic Investigation Sections.
Salah Mohamed Abdul Ghani, executive director of the Automotive Department at Gulf Takaful Insurance Company, thanked the General Directorate of Traffic for opening a traffic investigation office and said the new step ensures transparency and clarity regarding the rights of all.

Committee assesses efforts to remove abandoned vehicles

The Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles has held its regular meeting headed by Brigadier Ali Slaman al-Hassan al-Mohannadi, chairman of the committee.
The members of the committee and officers from the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) attended the meeting, which discussed the latest field reports about the recent campaigns conducted at Doha, Al Shehaniyah and Al Daayan municipalities to remove abandoned vehicles.
Accordingly, Brigadier al-Mohannadi stressed the need to continue such efforts to remove all the abandoned vehicles due to their negative impact on the country’s image and environment.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing co-operation and co-ordination between the committee and the various departments in the country on this issue. Further, the committee urged the owners of vehicles to avoid abandoning them on the pavements and public places. Such acts could attract potential legal consequences.

Residents urged to keep picnic spots clean
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has called on citizens and residents to co-operate with the ministry to keep the recreational areas, facilities, squares, public squares, and beaches clean during picnics and not throw personal waste, aluminium cans and plastic at these places.
The ministry also called on the public to help in the success of cleanliness programmes by using the containers allocated for waste and the removal of waste in the specified times, stressing the readiness of the Department of Public cleanliness fully to provide all the required services through the hotline or the site of the ministry or social networking sites. Director of General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Muqbil Madhour al-Shammari said that the preparations for Eid al-Adha have been completed. He pointed out that the administration takes into account religious rights of workers and drivers. They would stop working during Eid prayers an resume work after the prayers.

QIIB Eid working hours
QIIB has announced the opening of some its branches during the forthcoming Eid al-Adha holidays.
Under this, QIIB branches at Doha Festival City Mall, Mall of Qatar and Ezdan Mall Al Wakrah will be open on Monday, August 12, from 3.30pm-9pm.
All branches will be closed on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11.
All QIIB branches will return to normal working hours from Wednesday, August 14.
Similar to normal business days, QIIB alternate channels such as mobile banking, phone banking, Internet banking, ATMs and the call centre will be available round-the-clock, the bank said yesterday. 
QIIB customers can conduct their various banking operations “smoothly and round the clock” through these alternate channels.

Relocation of free right turn at Tilted Interchange
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a permanent relocation of the free right turn at the Tilted Interchange from Al Luqta Street towards Huwar Street.
The relocation has been announced in order to enable the connection works for the new Tilted Interchange that is built as part of  Khalifa Avenue Project.
During the relocation process, a traffic change will be implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. Road users on Al Luqta Street heading towards Huwar Street, Qatar Foundation Gate 5 and Qatar National Library have been asked to use the new slip road on Al Luqta Street instead of the free right turn at Tilted interchange as shown in  the attached map.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the closure. Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the 50kph speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure safety.

Various MoI depts to work during Eid
The services of the security departments and Traffic investigation sections will be available for the public during the Eid al-Adha holidays that start on August 11 and end on August 15.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior said that the departments and sections will work around the clock during the holidays.
The service departments including General Directorate of Passports, General Directorate of Traffic, Criminal Evidences and Information Department will work from 8am-12pm during these days.

Armed Forces exercises
Qatar Armed Forces General Command has announced that the marine shooting range (O.T.D-28) located east of Mesaieed near Fasht Al Hadid, will be active daily from 6am-5pm from September-November. The area is 40km east of Mesaieed at a 105-degree East of Mesaieed port and extends all the way to the south of Shuraawa Island.  The General Command of the Qatar Armed Forces has also announced that it will carry out Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Exercise in three camps in Al Duhailiyat, Om Houta and Katibat Hamad from August 18 until September 19 from 6am-12pm.  – QNA
