The Police College, in co-operation with Qatar Post, has launched a postage stamp to document the graduation of its first batch of students in January this year.
A statement from the Ministry of Interior yesterday said 10,000 copies of the commemorative stamp have been issued and are available through various Qatar Post outlets and branches in the country.
The stamp can also be scanned using the ‘Qatar Stamps’ app to view the augmented reality content, the MoI tweeted.
The launch ceremony was attended by Major General Dr Abdullah Yousuf al-Mal, adviser to HE the Minister of Interior and vice-president of the Supreme Council of the Police College; Faleh Mohamed al-Naemi, Qatar Post chairman and managing director; and members of the Police College Supreme Council.
Major General Dr al-Mal launched the commemorative stamp via augmented reality by scanning the postage stamp. There was also an accompanying video of the graduation ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, he thanked Qatar Post for the co-operation it extended to the Police College to bring out the stamp to document and commemorate the graduation of the first batch of students.
The official stressed that they were keen to launch the stamp and activate it to achieve the MoI’s vision, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported. It will be used in correspondence issued by the State to all parts of the world and act as a bridge to deepen the bonds of co-operation and effective participation with everyone, he observed.
Furtherm he praised the efforts of the Police College staff members to serve the college since the decision of its establishment until the first batch’s graduation. He added that the dedication of everyone led to the college’s prestigious position and reputation over a short period of time.
On his part, al-Naemi said: “Postage stamps have a great impact in documenting historical events for generations. We are happy to co-operate with the Police College to document the graduation of its first batch.”
In January, the Police College had honoured its first batch of 108 police graduates from Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen, QNA added.
