Strong winds are expected in parts of the country during the day along with “very hot” conditions, the Qatar Met department has said in its forecast for Monday.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to experience windy conditions and high seas by noon, the weather report states.
The Met department had on Saturday said that northwesterly winds were expected to affect the country from Monday morning until the weekend, advising people to be cautious and avoid sea activities in view of the anticipated conditions.
The detailed forecast for Monday says it will be misty at first, followed by “very hot” daytime conditions and slight dust in some places. The wind speed will be 10-20 knots, reaching a high of 23 knots in certain areas.
Offshore, some clouds are expected Monday, and dusty conditions will prevail later. The wind speed will range from 5-15 knots, increasing by noon to 15-25 knots and going up to 30 knots in some places. The sea level, meanwhile, may rise to 10ft.
A maximum temperature of 47C is expected Monday in Doha, Wakrah and Mesaieed, while Al Khor will see a high of 46C. Sunday, a maximum of 48C was recorded in Turayna, followed by 47C in Sheehaniya and Batna and 46C in Abu Hamour. Doha saw a high of 44C on Sunday.
