Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) in Education City has launched the 2019 edition of its summer art and design programme for children and high school students.
The classes will start on June 29 and run until early August.
The classes are open to children from age four to 16 and above, and will range from fashion design, interior design, app design, video game design and T-shirt design, to painting, printmaking, collage making, fashion illustration, robots and more, VCUarts Qatar has said in a statement.
For example, in the ‘Design and Print your own T-shirt’ course, students aged eight to 12 years will design and print their own t-shirt.
In the ‘Introduction to Pottery’ class for students aged 15 years and above, participants will explore basic pottery processes and techniques: preparing clay, wheel throwing, trimming and surface manipulation, glazing, firing and recycling used clay, giving them fundamental knowledge of pottery making.
In the ‘Animation and Music Making’, for those aged 10 to 13 years, students will make their own short story and work with music to create a final short stop motion animation video using props made from paper, play-doh and different 3D objects.
