The Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation has arrested seven persons, including six Arab nationals and one European, with four bags of counterfeit currencies.
Informing this on social media, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said the authorities also found papers and tools the arrested persons used to dupe their victims by claiming that the papers were converted into counterfeit currencies, with the intention to obtain real money from the victims.
The security personnel concerned seized the fake currencies and other items after receiving a search warrant from the competent authorities. Those arrested confessed to the charges and were referred to the judicial authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures. The MoI has urged the public to be cautious and not to deal with such fraudsters who offer easy wealth through fraudulent methods.
The ministry has also called for co-operation with the Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department by reporting any such acts or practices in order to achieve security in society.
