Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is carrying out a project to support Jenin Hospital in the West Bank by supplying medical equipment to the Al-Batiniyah and Al-Hadaen hospitals, in co-operation with the Palestinian Red Crescent and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
A statement issued yesterday by the Qatar Red Crescent Society, said that the aim of the project, which benefits about 120,000 people directly and 600,000 indirectly, is to improve the quality of medical services provided in the hospital, the rapid response in the treatment of patients, and the necessary diagnostics in the sections of boarding and incubators, as well as increasing rehabilitation efforts in Palestinian hospitals in general.
The statement noted that 85% of the project has been completed by streamlining the procurement procedures through a public tender to ensure transparency, receiving bids from 11 local companies, forming a central technical committee to examine them, selecting the winning bids of the contract and signing the supply agreements with the companies.
The hospital’s procurement procedures have already started, with 5 devices received so far.
The Jenin Hospital, a general hospital for internal and surgical diseases, is the only governmental hospital in the governorate serving more than 350,000 people.
It treats more than 120,000 patients annually through emergency services, medical imaging, CT scan, MRI and laboratory services of all kinds.
As a result of the shortage of equipment needed to operate the internal and emergency departments, Qatar Red Crescent Society, through its representative mission in the West Bank and Jerusalem, initiated the project to identify the deficiencies and provide the two sections to improve the quality of health services provided to the sick.
