Some 60 art teachers in Qatar took part in a Fire Station training workshop, introducing them to new methods and techniques in preparing and presenting art materials to school students.
The workshop was delivered by the American School of Doha in collaboration with the Department of Education at Qatar Museums (QM), as well as two Artists in Residence – Mohammed al-Suwaidi and Nourbanu Hijazi.
The workshop is an extension of The Executive Teachers Council (ETC) - a platform launched in 2016 under the patronage of QM’s Chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, which provides teachers with access to various educational resources and helps them identify new ways of encouraging more
students to visit museums.
As part of the event, participants were also invited for a tour at the Fire Station’s Cass Art store - the UK’s leading art supplies retailer.
“QM believes that education enriches lives and fosters creativity, curiosity and imagination. Thus, we are committed to supporting teachers and educators so that they can guide the next generation of cultural professionals and artists who can help Qatar originate sources for art and creativity from within,” QM’s Education director Dr Jelena Trkulja said in a statement.
