Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre) is participating in the 15th Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition.
The event is being held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center until April 30.
Earlier, Bedaya had opened the doors for registration to select five startup candidates under specific terms and conditions, which stated that the startup must be Qatari, home-based, with no commercial premises and be new in business.
Priority has been accorded to startups that have a home licence or commercial licence. The permitted lines of business for applying were fashion (except children’s wear), bags, shoes, perfumes and fashion accessories.
Accordingly, five participants were selected by a jury based on the quality of deliverables and suitability for the event, Bedaya said in a statement. The selected startups, participating in Heya under Bedaya’s umbrella, are Amna signature, Trtr.qa and Belle Ame Designs, which are operating in the fashion line of business, in addition to Violet Perfumes and Lothan Perfumes, which are working in the perfumes and bakhour industries.
Reem al-Sowaidi, general manager of Bedaya Centre, said: “First of all, I extend my gratitude to the Qatar National Tourism Council and the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition’s management for inviting us and supporting the participation of emerging women’s projects presenting their products under the umbrella of Bedaya Centrer. Participation in this year’s edition of Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition’s confirms Qatari women’s exposure to the market and their knowledge and competitiveness in various sectors.
“We are participating with five startup projects operating in the fields of fashion, abayas, perfumes and bakhour. We sought, through this participation, to support those entrepreneurial women in the best possible way, especially by offering them the opportunity to take part in one of the most important and specialised exhibitions in the region. This would provide a great boost for their business and help them in overcoming all obstacles on the exciting entrepreneurial journey.”
