The Maserati Levante Trofeo has won the 2019 Golden Steering Wheel Award (GSWA), one of the most prestigious and sought-after honours bestowed in the automotive industry in Qatar, celebrating top SUVs, CUVs, off-roaders and 4×4s produced for 2019.
The top-of-the-line Levante Trofeo has distinguished itself by winning top place in the ‘Best Luxury Sport SUV’ category, according to a press statement.
Organised by the Qatar-based Arab Motors ME and XTORK magazines, awards were granted in 21 categories: from small to large and premium class, covering the full spectrum of the SUV, crossover and 4×4 segments.
This is the first time in Qatar that such prizes have been awarded to top SUVs, off-roaders and 4×4s.
The winning cars were rigorously tested by the Arab Motors ME and XTORK team for a period of three months and on all terrains — be it on-road or off-road.
All vehicles tested were evaluated against five key criteria: performance, overall exterior and interior design, safety, off-road capabilities, and technological advancements.
The winners were announced during an award ceremony held at the Al Enna Quad Tracks in Sealine recently — a gala event featuring an audience of motoring journalists, industry insiders and car dealers.
The win for the Levante Trofeo is “further testament to its success, with its dynamic, yet aggressive design, outstanding off-road capabilities, refined interior, and above all, its new 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 590hp and 730Nm peak torque”, the statement noted.
Nabil al-Hassan, editor-in-chief of Arab Motors ME, said: “Undoubtedly, every car that achieves the GSWA is a deserving winner, so the award proves just how good this luxury SUV is. With one of the best high-performance engines, brute off-road capabilities and distinctive interior complete with luxurious amenities, the Trofeo leaves the competition in the dust.”

First unveiled at Maserati’s showroom located in The Pearl-Qatar, the top-of-the-line Trofeo has the advantage of more aggressive styling, hand-crafted finishes, impressive handling and charismatic characteristics.
Unlike the traditional variants, the Levante Trofeo boasts of massive 22-inch forged-aluminium wheels — the largest to be fitted on a Maserati ever — standard full Matrix LED headlamps and a luxurious interior that is slathered in Pieno Fiore natural leathers, available in either red, black or tan.
