The ninth edition of Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (Mijex), which will showcase the latest designs of international jewellery brands, opens at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat today.
The global trade fair will feature “a wide range of precious and authentic gemstones, spectacular pearls, attractive gold ornaments and fabulous diamonds”, the organisers have said in a statement.
Besides jewellery, machinery, materials, tools, equipment and accessories will be showcased at the trade fair from various manufacturers and distributors from within the region and beyond.
The event continues until December 15.
Renowned for the large participation of both jewellers and consumers as well as its reputation, the trade fair is jointly organised by the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre and Vega Intertrade and Exhibition.
The five-day event will host companies specialising in gold and jewellery and representatives of gold and jewellery agents from within and outside the Sultanate.
“As Oman is recognised as a gateway to the gems and jewellery business to neighbouring countries, Mijex is regarded as one of the most exquisite jewellery exhibitions in the region,” the statement noted. “Mijex will stimulate jewellery and gem exports from the Sultanate, besides reflecting to the whole world the extraordinary dynamism and energy of the Muscat jewellery sector.”
A highlight of this year’s trade fair is an opportunity to win a diamond watch, which will be given to a lucky winner by Salem Al Shueibi Jewellery through a raffle draw.
The trade fair, which is open to both companies and the public, will attract companies from across the world, including Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, India, Italy, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Turkey.
The exhibition will be open from 2pm to 10pm on all days except Friday, when it will be open from 4pm to 10pm.
