A 66-year-old Chinese tourist was killed by a hippo while he was taking pictures of Lake Naivasha, north-west of the Kenyan capital Nairobi, wildlife officials said on Sunday.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after the attack on Saturday evening, the Kenya Wildlife Service wrote on Twitter.
His 62-year-old colleague, also from China, survived the encounter and is being treated at hospital.
Naivasha and the nearby Hell's Gate National Park are about 90 minutes by car from Nairobi and popular with tourists.
But the shore of the freshwater lake is considered dangerous terrain especially in the dark, because of the many grazing hippos.
