Umm Salal Municipality’s Health Control Department has carried out an inspection campaign at various food establishments within its jurisdiction since the start of this month.
The main aim of the campaign is to ensure the compliance of these establishments with health and safety regulations, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has said in a press statement.
The campaign has covered all slaughterhouses in the municipality as part of preparations for the upcoming Eid al-Adha. The initiative is in line with a comprehensive plan of the municipality to guarantee smooth operations at such key facilities, the statement notes.
The inspection campaign will continue until the end of August.
Meanwhile, Umm Salal Municipality’s municipal control department carried out a number of inspection tours in July in different parts of the municipality. Accordingly, 97 abandoned vehicles were removed and notices were put up on other such vehicles seeking their removal within the legal grace period.
Also, 16 violation reports were issued and 10 of these resolved through reconciliation after paying the stipulated fines. Besides, five affidavits were undertaken to remove violations.
The total collected fines during this period amounted to QR108,000, the MME said.
In a related development, Al Wakrah Municipality’s municipal control department implemented a number of inspection tours targeting stone-crushers and equipment during July and August, which resulted in the issuance of 38 violations of Law No 10 of 1987 regarding public and private state property.
In addition, four violation reports were issued for flouting Law No 4 of 1985 on the organisation of buildings. The campaign was supervised by the departments of technical control and general control at the municipality.
