Marriott Junior Business Council, represented by eight Marriott International Properties, came together in partnership with Jaidah Automotive, the official dealer for Chevrolet in Qatar, for a charity event recently.
The eight Marriott International Properties are W Doha Hotel & Residences, The St Regis Doha, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Sharq Village & Spa, Doha Marriott Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Doha and Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel. More than 40 Marriott volunteers joined hands to sort through donations as part of the initiative.
More than 150 boxes of clothes, bedding and other basic necessities were collected in one month of planning and preparation, a press statement noted.
These were then distributed to a local labour camp and to women and children in need.
Chevrolet Qatar, a brand which is also active in charity work, provided transportation for the volunteers with the Chevrolet Silverado and Tahoe models, from Doha Marriott Hotel to the Industrial Area, where the labour camp was located.
Tania Rodrigues, president of Qatar Marriott Junior Business Council, shared that it was an eye-opening experience for her. “Every action, no matter how small, has an effect to those around you. Everyone has the ability to help in some way or another,” Rodrigues said.
Qatar Marriott Junior Business Council is a sub-council part of Qatar Marriott Worldwide Business Council that organises a wide variety of corporate social responsibility events to raise awareness about critical issues such as education in under-developed countries, animal cruelty and environmental changes.
