The senior puisne judge of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, has contributed Rs1mn to the Supreme Court (SC) fund for the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.
Siddiqui, in a letter addressed to the registrar of the apex court, said that in response to a call of the Supreme Court to facilitate the nation and for the cause of beloved Pakistan, he was enclosing a cheque for Rs1mn, the net salary for June, as his contribution to the Supreme Court Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund.
The judge asked that the receipt of the contribution be issued in the name of his late parents Qazi Aziz-ur-Rehman and Ume Kalsoom.
The SC fund was launched on July 4 by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar to help finance the two multi-billion dollar dams.
The top judge donated Rs10mn ($8,200) from his own pocket to launch the public fundraising campaign.
