Qatar kicked off their campaign in the 16th Asian Men’s Junior (U19) Handball Championship with an easy 36-26 win over Syria on Sunday. The Qatari team dominated the match in Salalah, Oman, leading comfortably from the outset to sound their intent in the tournament. The director of team, Issa al-Mulla, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the players. He said Syria put up a good performance despite not being among the better known teams of the world.
In other matches, Iran beat India 48-17, South Korea defeated Lebanon 45-31 and Saudi Arabia prevailed over Chinese Taipei 41-30.
Qatar will take on Iraq today in their second match.
