Majlis Qatar, which was held in Russia in conjunction with the 2018 World Cup, achieved great success and received wide international acclaim, attracting more than 100,000 visitors during a busy week of events that briefed the public on Qatar’s heritage and achievements.
The most public inquiries were about the stadiums of the World Cup 2022 and the public showed their fascination with designs which reflect the nature of the country, as well as the system of air conditioning playgrounds and type of grass used, and the audience was impressed by Majlis Qatar diversity and its great distinction.
The celebrations were held within Majlis Qatar in Russia yesterday after His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, officially received the mantle of hosting the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup from Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, in the presence of FIFA president.
The event celebration, which is a very important point in the history of Qatari, Arab and sports in the entire Middle East, was held because it is the first time the World Cup will be held in the region, and the festivities were as big as the event, with visitors from all over the world attending a special and extraordinary ceremony at Majlis Qatar.
Majlis Qatar has received extensive media coverage, in which all media praised the initiative of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy to give everyone the chance to participate in Majlis Qatar in order to promote Qatar through a major international event such as the World Cup, and to provide a picture of the existing efforts to host the 2022 World Cup more distinctly at all levels, whether the organisation or stadiums or what will be exclusive in the World Cup Qatar after four years, and the surprises waiting the public who will see an unprecedented world cup version.
The events of the last day were distinctive and reflected the great success achieved by Majlis Qatar throughout its days, special events were offered to public and visitors showing the Qatari generosity offering tea, coffee, desserts and dates.
Visitors showed great desire to learn about the culture of Qatar, and Majlis Qatar provided them with a lot of information about Qatar and everyone was assured that the World Cup 2022 will be exceptional, historical and unprecedented.
Majlis Qatar also witnessed the role of camel in the lives of old people of Qatar and its role now, as well as the traditional Qatari dance, and visitors participated in these dances in a very wonderful atmosphere.
The visitors were keen to be present on a daily basis at Majlis Qatar and were very impressed with what they saw and there was a consensus of visitors of the World Cup in Russia to attend Qatar World Cup in 2022.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented by the Department of Culture and Arts, has been keen on participating in Majlis Qatar as well as Aspire Zone and Qatar Foundation.
