The General Authority of Customs (GAC) announced on Sunday that it has seized more than 1,100kg of illegal chewing tobacco.
At Hamad Port, several shipments were seized after an employee suspected a shipment of electronic material and examined it on X-ray machine, finding 765kg of the illegal substance. The same shipment included a number of water heaters which carried 348kg of tobacco. Once the items were seized, legal procedures were initiated and a seizure report was issued.
The GAC has seized a number of drugs, which confirms the vigilance of customs officials and their keenness to prevent the entry of prohibited and narcotic substances into the country, reflecting the authority's confident steps towards developing work performance and the efforts of the inspectors which facilitates the task.
