The Dallas Mavericks signed third overall draft pick Luka Doncic to an entry-level contract, the team announced on Monday. Dallas reportedly reached a buyout with Real Madrid on Saturday, clearing the way for Doncic to sign. Terms of the deal were not announced, but a report said that Doncic will make a bit more than $5.4mn in 2018-19. Last year’s third overall pick, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, signed a four-year, $30mn deal with club options in the third and fourth seasons.
Doncic, 19, will not suit up for summer league play despite owner Mark Cuban previously mentioning the team hoped to get him some action in Las Vegas. The Slovenian star just finished a lengthy season with Real Madrid, leading the club to the Liga ACB championship and EuroLeague title in the past few months.
The latter competition ended less than a week before the NBA draft on June 21. Between all of his commitments to teams in Europe, Doncic has appeared in more than 150 games over the past two seasons. Doncic will wear No 77 for the Mavericks, a number he has worn for the Slovenian national team while wearing No 7 with Real Madrid.

Grizzlies announce signing of Anderson
A day after the San Antonio Spurs declined to match their offer sheet, the Memphis Grizzlies announced the signing of forward Kyle Anderson on Monday. The Grizzlies did not reveal terms of the contract, but multiple media reports indicated that the 24-year-old restricted free agent landed a four-year, $37.2mn deal.
The Spurs had until 11:59pm ET on Sunday to match the bid and retain him, but they decided against doing so. Anderson, a defensive specialist, likely will move immediately into Memphis’ starting lineup.
Anderson averaged career highs last season in all major stats: 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks in 74 games (67 starts). In his previous three NBA seasons, he started a total of only 33 games. The Spurs chose him 30th overall in the 2014 draft after he spent two seasons at UCLA.

Spurs re-sign Bertans for four years, $20mn
Center-forward Davis Bertans will sign a four-year contract to remain with the San Antonio Spurs, according to a report on Monday. Bertans’ deal is worth $20mn. The 25-year-old had received a $1.74mn qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, after making $1.3mn in 2017-18.
Last season, Bertans averaged 5.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 77 games (10 starts). The Indiana Pacers selected the 6-foot-10 Bertans in the second round of the 2011 draft, but he chose instead to remain in Europe. He signed with San Antonio in July 2016.
He bounced between the team’s G League affiliate and the NBA roster that season but has played 143 NBA games (16 starts) over the past two seasons. Bertans is a member of the Latvian national team.
