Ooredoo Myanmar’s second donation in Bago Region, emanating from its ‘The More you Speak, the More Ooredoo will Donate’ CSR programme, was held recently at Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital in Pyundaza town, Nyaunglebin Township.
Donating a total of 10mn Burmese Kyat (MMK) from the innovative CSR programme, Ooredoo Myanmar’s donation will be used for the construction of the hospital’s waiting area for patients. Previously, there were about 1,500 patients who came to the eye hospital for eye examination or surgeries.
In a ceremony, Nyaunglebin Township general administrator U Naw Maing Hla Kyi delivered an appreciation speech, while Dr Myint Thein of the constituency of Nyagunlebin Township, Bago Region, awarded an honorary certificate for the donation.
U Myint Thein, chairman of the execution committee of Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital, thanked Ooredoo Myanmar for the donation.
Eye patients from Bago Region and surrounding towns no longer need to travel to receive treatment in cities such as Yangon, Mandalay and Sagaing. Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital will help patients save time and money for travel and medical treatment, Ooredoo Myanmar has said in a statement.
Ooredoo Myanmar CEO Vikram Sinha said, “This CSR initiative involving Sitgau Cakkhudana Hospital means much more to us at Ooredoo Myanmar because it validates that we are doing something positive for the people we serve.
“This donation is actually made possible by the people of Bago Region. We believe that we are able to help enrich the lives of people through our CSR initiatives and cutting-edge technology.”
According to the directive of Sitagu Sayadaw, the head of the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, Sitagu Cakkhudana Hospital was opened in February 2017 in Pyundaza town led by Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Badanta Vizaya from Zabu Aye Inwine Monastery.
Eye specialists from Myanmar’s Sitagu Eye Hospital, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and France provided free eye care services to patients with eyes diseases and eye surgeries at Sitagu Eye Hospital.
Yadana Mizzari Monastic Education Centre and Mya Theingi Kyan Khin Monastic Education Centre in Pyay are the recipients of the first 20mn MMK donation each for a school building construction in March 2018.
“Ooredoo Myanmar will continue to look for opportunities to help enrich the lives of the Myanmar people. We are here as family; we are here to be of service,” Sinha added.
