Governor of Sudan’s North Darfur State Mohammed Abbad said that the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) has established large infrastructure and development projects for the well-being of the people of Darfur and the improvement of the country’s overall economy.
He pointed that his State will witness, in the coming period, the implementation of the new phases of the projects of the model villages carried by Qatar in Darfur as well as the transition to a comprehensive development in all areas.
He praised the Qatari initiatives to develop the capacities of the people of Darfur, especially the youth, and the use of sport to promote social peace, noting that the DDPD has made Darfur the focus of the world in the areas of recovery and overcoming the difficulties of war.
Abbad stressed that all the chapters of the DDPD have been implemented on the ground and currently its positive impacts are being measured.
The Doha Document for Peace in Darfur was mediated by Qatar on July 14, 2011 between the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Movement which comprises a group of militant movements.
