Argentinian football icon Diego Maradona said early Wednesday he was fine, after requiring medical treatment following Argentina's dramatic 2-1 World Cup win against Nigeria the night before.
"I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, neither was I interned," Maradona said on Facebook.
"I was checked by a doctor and he recommended me to go home before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were risking it all. How could I leave? I send a kiss to everyone, thanks for the support!"
Photos shared online showed Maradona, looking exhausted and sitting in an armchair while being treated by paramedics, one of whom seemed to be checking his pulse.
Argentinian newspaper La Nacion reported that Maradona was checked for low blood pressure, but was later able to walk out of the venue unassisted.
He reportedly then flew to Moscow early Wednesday.
Maradona, who captained Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986, appeared highly emotional during the match, which Argentina needed to win to reach the last 16.
TV cameras showed the 57-year-old bouncing up and down in his seat before flashing two middle fingers as the remarkable victory became a reality.
Before kick-off, images of Maradona dancing with a woman wearing a Nigeria jersey were broadcast on the stadium's big screens to the delight of fans from both camps.
