Warriors Club won the ‘A’ Division title of the Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament defeating Al Feroz Youngsters by four-wicket in the final.
At the Asian Town Stadium, Al Feroz Youngsters posted a fighting total of 155 for five, with Mohamed Tanveer (52 not out with three sixes and a four) and Noman (31 with two sixes and a four) providing the base. The two batsmen were also involved in a 55-run stand for the fifth wicket to push their team beyond the 150-mark. Murad got two scalps for 31, while Imraz and Tamoor Sajjad shared two.
Warriors Club lost two early wickets to Imran, but opener Adnan spearheaded two crucial alliances with Zaheer and Asad to give momentum to the chase.
Adnan, who slammed a six and five boundaries in 54, put up 38 runs for the third wicket with Zaheer.
Then Adnan and Asad collected 46 runs before the former was the fourth player to be dismissed, buut his good work was carried on by Sajjad, who made 29 with a six and two boundaries, Murad (21 with a six and two fours) and Asad (18 with a six) to see the home with four balls to go.
Besides Imran, Inam-ul-Haq (one for 21) was other wicket-taker. Adnan was deservingly declared the man-of-the-final. QCA operations manager Manzoor Ahmad and QCA domestic cricket head Gul Khan Jadoun presented the trophies and awards.
“The Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament was possible due to initiative of the QCA preseident Yousuf Jeham al-Kuwari. We all witnessed many high quality matches. Even the finals in both categories were quite close and well fought,” Ahmad said at the closing ceremony.
“I want to thank Mr Jadoun and his team for their wonderful job of putting together such a nice tournament. All the players and teams deserved praise for doing their best to make the event memorable. Congratulations to the winners Warriors Club and runners-up Al Feroz Youngsters for fighting it out in the final.”
Speaking on the occasion Jadoun said, “I also wish to thank president Mr Yousuf Jeham al-Kuwari and the QCA for giving me the opportunity to organise the event.
“As an organising team, we did our best and tried to hold a good show. All the teams and officials showed their commendable commitment, otherwise the event would have not been so successful. We always learn and will use this experience to make the next event even better.”
