The Embassy of Nepal in Doha recently celebrated the fourth International Day of Yoga in an effort to highlight the significance of yoga in human health. Held on the premises of the embassy, the event was attended by more than 100 participants. Professor Ramesh Prasad Koirala, Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar, was also present on the occasion and performed yoga postures in the event that lasted for an hour.
Speaking at the programme, the ambassador said that yoga helped maintain a healthy life. He added that various health problems, including gastritis, diabetes and uterus ailments were common in Nepal and yoga had been gaining widespread popularity as an effective medium to fight such diseases. 
The participants performed various yoga postures, led by Prakash Thapa, a yoga instructor based in Doha.
Thapa explained how yoga could be helpful in preventing diseases. “If you haven’t taken up yoga yet, I suggest you start doing so. It’s never too late. Doing yoga will help you achieve a more positive outlook on life and a focused, permanent sense of peace”, Thapa emphasised.
Rama Tamang, a resident of Doha, who has been practicing yoga for about an year, said, “Yoga is the best physiotherapy. I feel relaxed and content after doing yoga and it has cured both my clinical and non-clinical problems.”
