The Indian embassy is celebrating the 4th International Day of Yoga at Qatar Sports Club indoor hall on Saturday (June 23) from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Inspired by the response of enthusiastic yoga practitioners from various parts of Qatar in the past three editions of the International Day of Yoga, the embassy is also organising camps and workshops at Al Khor (June 22), Mesaieed (June 29) and Dukhan (June 30).
Saturday’s event will not only include a yoga demonstration by experts but will also provide an opportunity for all to participate in a session based on the common yoga protocol and comprise various standing and sitting postures, kapalbhati and pranayam and breathing techniques, followed by meditation.
As a prelude to the celebrations of the 4th International Day of Yoga, numerous workshops and demonstrations in collaboration with Doha-based Yoga Studios have been conducted by the embassy in the last two months, including workshops for students in various schools in Doha.
In addition, Yoga sessions for the Indian community based in Al Khor were also organised.
It may be recalled that on December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga and on June 21, 2015, the first International Day of Yoga was celebrated worldwide.
