As Singapore prepares for the arrival of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, another Kim has received a less-than-warm welcome from Singaporean authorities.
Kim Jong Un impersonator Kim Jong Um, who also goes by the name Howard X, was detained and questioned for several hours on Friday by immigration officials when trying to enter the country.
"When I arrived at 3:30 in the morning in Singapore there was an officer waiting for me and asked me if I was the Kim Jong Un impersonator [to] which I said I was a music producer (which is true)," X wrote in a Facebook post.
"He then took me into a room and the detained and questioned me for two hours," he added.
The lookalike was travelling to Singapore to appear alongside Dennis Alan, an impersonator of US President Donald Trump, ahead of a planned summit between Trump and Kim on June 12.
The Kim impersonator was also questioned about his role in the 2014 Occupy Central protests in Hong Kong. He acknowledged his participation, saying he was simply exercising his freedom of speech.
The lookalike said he was instructed to stay away from areas around the country that had been gazetted for the summit, as it was a "sensitive time."
The impersonator has gained worldwide attention for his resemblance to the North Korean dictator, and for his appearance at the Pyeongchang Olympic Games, which saw him being marched out of the venue for dancing in front of the North Korean cheerleading squad.
X concluded the Facebook post by saying he was allowed to enter Singapore after the interrogation.
