The DPS-Modern Indian School management has signed a contract with construction contractors Al Muftah Group to build its second campus in Wukair.
At the ceremony, where all partners and promoters of the school were present, the school's patron Aisha bint Mohamed bin Hammam al-Abdulla and Al Muftah Group managing director Ibrahim al-Muftah signed agreements.
School president Hassan Chougule and vice president Yasir Nainar, Al Muftah Group's contracting division manager V S Manangi and finance director V K Choudhry were among those present.
DPS-MIS, which started in Al Thumama in 2001, moved to its campus in Al Wakrah in 2012.
"However, since the school has been running to full capacity, owing to growing demand for the seats there, we realised the need for another campus sometime ago and applied for permission to build the new complex in Al Wukair," said Chougule in a statement.
A committee to oversee the design, approvals and construction of the building has been constituted with Hassan Chougule, Yasir Nainar , M I Farid, Harish Kanjani, Gopi Varadhan and George Thomas as its members.
The new 22,000sqm building looks similar to the existing campus of DPS-MIS in Al Wakrah and has a full-size athletics track and multi-purpose hall besides facilities to park no less than 200 buses. In all, the building and the land area would constitute about 32,000sqm.
Doha Bank is the financing partner and Qatar Design Consortium the building architect.
The contractors need to deliver the new building and its associated services within 15 months from the date of signing the agreement, the statement added.
