The Advisory Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee held a meeting yesterday chaired by its Rapporteur Nasser bin Rashid Seraei al-Kaabi.
During the meeting, the committee discussed a draft law regulating non-Qatari ownership and usage of real estate.
The committee decided to invite the minister of justice to its next meeting. 
Separately, the Services and Public Utilities Committee of the Advisory Council also held a meeting yesterday chaired by its Rapporteur Mohamed bin Mahdi al-Ahbabi.
The committee continued study of the general debate request on the high rent of shops, and decided to submit its recommendations thereon to the Advisory Council.
The committee also discussed a draft law on transport of hazardous substances by road, and decided to invite the minister of transport and communications to attend its next meeting.

Zakat Fund project giving QR7.5mn to needy families
The total cost of the “Basket of Goodness” project, which Zakat Fund is implementing in Ramadan, amounted to more than QR7.5mn and benefited 2,781 eligible families.
In a statement, the fund said that the annual project was carried out before Ramadan in order to help eligible families secure their needs early.
Through the project, the statement added, Zakat Fund deposits funds monthly in the bank accounts of beneficiaries so as to help them buy basic needs for Ramadan.
Basket of Goodness is one of the seasonal projects of Zakat Fund and adds to other projects related to the aid the fund provides around the year.

Rule of Law Centre signs pact with French foundation
The Doha-based Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre (ROLACC) signed a joint declaration of intent with Foundation for Strategic Research in France with the aim of developing research programmes, co-operation and training, and exchanging expertise. HE the Attorney General and ROLACC Board Chairman Ali bin Fetais al-Marri and the French foundation’s deputy director Jean-François Daguzan signed the declaration.
Under the agreement, the two sides will co-operate in fighting corruption, conducting research, training in the areas of Internet security, especially in combating hate speech in social networks, in addition to research and training on maritime security and combating piracy.
