Qatar, represented in the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, in co-operation with Permanent Mission of Qatar to New York, has participated in a high-level meeting to mark the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
The meeting, held recently in in New York, was organised jointly by the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with the participation of States parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption and a number of concerned international organisations. During the meeting, the delegation of Qatar highlighted the country’s achievements in the prevention and control of corruption, which enabled it to rank high on the related international indicators.

Minister discusses Qatari education institutions’ civil role at Paris conference

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, affirmed yesterday that the social responsibility in Qatar lies in Qatar National Vision 2030, which is based on four interdependent pillars: human, social, environmental and economic development, in a manner that ensures sustainable development.
The minister’s remarks came during his participation in a round table discussion at the European Ministerial Higher Education Conference, held on May 24-25 in Paris, focusing this year on the civil role of institutions of higher education. 
The minister expressed his delight with the civil role played by higher education institutions in Qatar, especially Qatar University, which established a centre for volunteering and civil responsibility, in order to educate students responsibility in various fields of volunteer work. The University also launched the sixth edition of the Social Responsibility Report entitled Citizenship, a national platform reflecting the general citizenship of universities and institutions. 
The Minister of Education and Higher Education explained the pioneering and effective role played by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development in the field of sustainable and community development.
