The seventh Holy Qur’an memorisation competition for children, being organised by Katara Cultural Village on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, will continue until May 31.
A total of 50 children aged 10 to 12 years including girls are participating in the competition.
The orientation sessions for the participants which began on Sunday include lessons in selected verses from the Holy Qur’an and the tradition of the Prophet (Hadith), prayer, Islamic history and Islamic etiquette.
The sessions for boys take place at the main mosque in Katara and for girls at the Golden Mosque in Katara after Asr prayers from Sunday to Thursday over two weeks. The annual competition aims to keep children attached to the Islamic identity and values, through the study, memorisation and recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
