Indian ambassador P Kumaran, school’s chief patron Mohamed bin Hammam al-Abdulla, patron Aisha bint Mohamed bin Hammam, managing committee president Hassan Chougule, vice president Yassir Nainar, other members and many other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
While addressing the gathering, Chougule said DPS-MIS ‘has carved a niche for itself and is the first choice school of the country’s Indian expatriate community.’
“The school’s spectacular growth is mainly owing to its cosmopolitan outlook, congenial atmosphere, secular character and student-centric approaches,” he said, adding that the foundation of DPS-MIS Wukair is another milestone in the history of Indian education in Qatar.
The school will continue to remain committed to providing the best of the facilities to foster academic excellence, creativity and compassion in young minds, he said.
While expressing happiness at the significant strides the school has made in the last two decades, al-Abdulla assured the gathering that DPS-MIS with its noble objectives will serve as a great educational monument in Qatar.
Ambassador Kumaran commended the dedicated efforts of DPS-MIS in providing quality education to the children of the Indian community and said the the school’s Wukair campus is a heartening step to meet the growing demand for more schools in Qatar.
DPS-MIS Wukair campus is spread over 32,000sq m and out of which over 21,000sq m is dedicated as built-up area for teaching- learning facilitation.
The proposed building will be equipped with all essential and modern facilities to provide holistic development to around 3,600 students and is expected to be ready by September next year. DPS-MIS principal Asna Nafees proposed a vote of thanks.
