The Ministry of Interior (MoI) carried out 22,834,779 transactions at its various departments and service centres in the first quarter of 2018.
This translated to an average of 7,611,593 transactions per month, 253,720 per day, 10,572 per hour and around 176 per minute, the MoI said in a report on its website.
The transactions include various e-services provided to the public.
A total of 679,089 transactions were completed through the MoI’s Metrash2 application during the first quarter. Month-wise, March had the highest number of transactions at 242,546, followed by January at 236,366 and February at 200,177.
Meanwhile, the total transactions completed by the General Directorate of Passports in the first three months of 2018 were 1,853,851. These included 866,839 transactions related to residency services, carried out through the Expatriate Affairs Department and Unified Services Centre; 756,010 visa transactions; 231,002 services and transactions provided by the Permanent Committee for Recruitment; and other services provided in the field of search and follow-up, airport passports and through e-government systems.
“In keeping with the economic boom, which required an increase in the labour market, the General Directorate of Passports has adopted a policy of decentralisation of services to provide quick services to the public through unified service centres throughout the country and in the headquarters of the departments,” the MoI report said.
The General Directorate of Traffic completed 419,438 transactions in the first quarter of 2018, with an average of 139,812 transactions per month and 4,660 per day.
The total number of transactions completed at the traffic headquarters amounted to 244,953, while transactions carried out in the external departments reached 174,485, which included all services provided by the General Directorate of Traffic.
In addition, there were 476,060 traffic violations during the first quarter of this year.
The month of January recorded the highest number of violations at 186,723, while 287,924 violations recorded through fixed and mobile radars. The highest rate of radar violations was also recorded during the month of January at 115,792.
The number of vehicles registered in the first quarter was 17,959, while 20,665 new driving licences were issued in the same period.
The Civil Defence extinguished 388 fires in the first three months of 2018, of which 42.8% were in residential complexes.
In order to enhance awareness in different institutions and bodies in the country and to ensure the readiness of firefighting equipment and devices, the General Directorate of Civil Defence carried out 16 mock drills at large buildings and facilities in the State, including government and private institutions.
It also contributed to the provision of various humanitarian services to individuals and institutions, including 257 rescue, relief and humanitarian services. In addition, the directorate issued 10,207 licences and permits to the public and institutions.
The report also informed that the Al Najda Police (Al Fazaa) dealt with 10,759 reports in the said period.
In terms of follow-up services of the National Command Centre, the Najm system monitored 6,768 complaints during the first quarter of 2018. These included accidents and traffic services - 93.7%, other services - 5.9%, fire accidents - 0.3% and complaints and services - 0.1%.
