HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces General Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim inaugurated on Saturday the new headquarters of the Office of the Military Attache of Qatar in Italian capital Rome.
The Chief of Staff said that the new headquarters of the military attache opens a new chapter in the defence relations between Qatar and Italy. It is aimed at enhancing co-operation and integration between the Qatar armed forces and their Italian counterparts.
He said the new headquarters would contribute to strengthening relations between the two countries and enhance the operational exchange between the armed forces of the two sides in combating terrorism and extremism and achieving stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the Military Police Commander Staff Major General Mohamed Messhi al-Ahbabi (pictured) met on Saturday with the Commanding General of the Carabinieri Force, Giovanni Nistri, and his accompanying delegation, who is currently visiting Doha.
They discussed bilateral relations in fields of joint interest between Qatar and Italy, and how to advance them.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of benefiting from these relations in the development of the military police and enhancing the efforts exerted between the two friendly countries in the defence and military fields in line with the strength of the relationship between the leadership of the two countries at all levels.
