The Ministry of Public Health has warned against the consumption of grape leaves products until further notice. The ministry said it conducted an assessment of the potential risk level, drawing samples from all varieties of grape leaves (fresh and processed) that are sold in the markets and analysed them in its laboratory, noting that the results showed that a large number of samples contained pesticide residues at rates exceeding permissible limits. The ministry further added that other samples were drawn and sent yesterday for analysis at one of the reference laboratories accredited outside Qatar. The ministry said that it will announce the trademarks and dates of the “infringing products” upon receiving the results of the analysis from the external laboratory.
