Abdulrahman Abdulgader began training sessions in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games 2018 that will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Qatari champion said he has started intensive training sessions under coach Hassan Bothalga in effort to improve his physical fitness.
Abdulqader had won gold medal in men’s shot put (F34) at the Para-Athletics Championships 2017 in London. He is also the first Qatari medallist in the history of the Paralympic Games when he won the silver medal in Men’s Shot Put (F34) at 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.

Rayyan to face Sharjah in GCC Club Basketball Championship 
Qatar’s Al Rayyan will lock horns against Al Sharja (UAE) in the prestigious GCC Club Basketball Championship 2018 at Sultan Qaboos sports complex in Oman.
Rayyan is looking for second victory in the campaign, after opening match victory 74-55 over hosts Nizwa. The event brings together seven clubs divided into two groups. Al Arabi (Qatar), Al Etihad (KSA), Al Muharraq (Bahrain) are in group A, while group B includes, Nizwa (Oman), Al Sharja (UAE) and Manama (Bahrain). The event is a qualifying tournament to the Asian Champions Cup, which will take place from 25-30 September, where the winners of the three top places will book a sport in the continental event.

Qatar to participate in Beach Handball Worlds
International Handball Federation (IHF) announced the final list of national teams participating in the 2018 Beach Handball World Championships, which will be held in the Russian city of Kazan from July 24 to 29. The list included 16 teams: Qatar, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Spain, Hungary, Ireland, Oman, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine, the US, Vietnam, Denmark and New Zealand.
The draw will be held in Kazan on May 15. The Qatari beach handball team has already started preparations for the world championships. Qatar qualified for the world championships after winning the sixth Asian Championship in Thailand last year for the fourth time in a row.
The Qatari team will participate in the fifth consecutive World Championship after the 2010 edition in Turkey, where they finished tenth. In the 2012 edition in Oman, they finished seventh, while in the next two editions, 2014 in Brazil and 2016 in Hungary, Qatar finished third.
