Qatar Chamber and Turkey’s Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (Musiad) held a meeting in Doha recently to review ways to enhance co-operation relations in the economic and trade sectors.
Qatar Chamber vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari and director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi met with Musiad board member Zeki Guvercin and Istamonu Fair chairman Huseyin Karadeniz.
The Turkish officials invited the chamber to participate in the Bakaf 2018 – Western Black Sea Tourism Fair slated on June 27 to 30 at the World Trade Centre in Istanbul, Turkey.
Karadeniz said the meeting reciprocates al-Sharqi’s visit to Istanbul last year. He also emphasised that Bakaf 2018 is a first-of-its-kind event for western areas of the Black Sea.
As an honoured guest at Bakaf 2018, Karadeniz said Qatar Chamber’s participation will create a positive impact on the expo “because of the considerable economic reputation that Qatar enjoys worldwide.”
Guvercin also said the visit of Qatari businessmen to Istanbul last year contributed to bridging relations between both countries’ private sector.
“Qatar and Turkey have strategic, developed relations, and we urge both sides to make the most of this development,” Guvercin added.
Al-Sharqi, who noted that last year’s visit to Istanbul “was a great success,” stressed that the relationship between Qatar and Turkey “is growing rapidly at all levels.” He said around 15 co-operation agreements were signed between Qatari and Turkish companies.
He also affirmed the importance of mutual visits in enhancing co-operation ties between both countries’ business communities.
“Musiad’s Qatar visit to promote Bakaf 2018 is one of the positive outcomes of the joint co-operation between both countries’ business community…the exhibition is a platform for businessmen from both sides to establish more alliances that would benefit their economies,” al-Sharqi said. Al-Kuwari said Qatar Chamber “is keen on strengthening its relationship with Musiad.”
“The chamber will invite Qatari companies and businessmen to visit Bakaf 2018, which will provide a good opportunity for both sides to hold mutual meetings and establish trade alliances and partnerships,” al-Kuwari said.
