For Indian actress Sana Khan, Qatar has been an altogether “different and exciting experience”.
Sana, who arrived in Doha to participate in the 13th Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, is quite upbeat about the future of events of this magnitude.
“Though this is my first visit here, I’m really impressed by what I have seen here and the visit certainly adds to my experience in the industry,” said the actress who has appeared in a number of Hindi and South Indian films as well as TV commercials and a television reality show.
Besides Hindi, Sana has donned roles in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.
At Heya, guests participated in ‘What’s In and Out on Social Media’, a forum by Indian celebrities TV stars and influencers Krystel D’Souza and Sana as well as Omani influencer Areej Balushi. Exhibitors and visitors were able to meet with the Indian celebrities and ask questions around fashion, style and trends on social media in the fashion industry.
The Mumbai resident said Doha has a number of qualities that can contribute to making it a top destination. “I am looking forward to similar visits in Doha in future.”
On learning about the region’s fashion industry and film world, the actress is hopeful that the visibility that she has earned from her association with Bollywood will stand her in good stead in the future.
“Films from India have all along been well received globally and the technologies adopted by Indian filmmakers these days are among the world’s best. So, it is quite natural in such situations that Indian film actors/actresses are recognised so well at different levels all over,” she said. “I would positively consider donning roles from this region’s industry as well, as such performances would only enhance the standing of an actress.
“In some of the countries where I have toured, it has always come to my notice that people from different walks of life have appreciated movies from India. There is no doubt that the industry has put my country on the top pedestal.”
The actress said though she knew only little about the industry and its prospects here, she had prior information about Doha’s film festival scenario and that some acclaimed artistes have made their appearances here.
“As far as latest fashion and design trends are concerned, it is crystal clear that there is a growing appeal among Qatari youngsters and it is really heartening that more people are making their entries these days,” added Sana, who is currently shooting for her forthcoming film, Tom Dick & Harry 2, directed by Deepak Tijori.
