Al Ahli Hospital, in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Blood Donor Unit, held a Blood Donation Drive on March 1.
This initiative formed part of Al-Ahli Hospital’s commitment to the Qatar community and was in line with its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Khalid al-Emadi, chief executive officer of the Medicare Group said that, “As a private healthcare provider, it is our social responsibility to support our community and those in need. We hope to raise awareness and educate our guests and staff through this initiative on the numerous benefits of donating blood. We are always keen and proud to host such events at Al Ahli Hospital and this example highlight the many ways we can all make an important contribution to our community through these worthy causes.”
“The blood donation drive is testament to our commitment to Qatar’s communities and individuals. We are delighted to be part of this response and to be more eager to help and donate,” said Jamal Saleh Hammad, deputy chief executive officer and director of projects at Al Ahli Hospital. “We believe that such initiatives raise public awareness of the importance of donating blood, not only because it may save lives, but also on the health benefits to the donors themselves.”
Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab, chief of medical staff, explained, that each component of the donated blood can be used by different recipients for various purposes.
Many newborn babies may benefit from a single blood donor as their blood requirements are smaller.
