His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio held yesterday an official round of talks at the Emiri Diwan.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Emir welcomed the Sierra Leone president, congratulating him on taking on the presidency, and wished him success.
His Highness the Emir stressed that the visit will push bilateral co-operation to wider horizons and will help realise mutual interests.
For his part, President Maada Bio thanked the Emir for the gracious reception and the
hospitality.
He pointed out that his visit to Qatar is the first to the region in general since he assumed the presidency, something that confirms the strength of bilateral co-operation.
He then expressed his aspiration to elevate bilateral co-operation further to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
The Emir and the president discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, and the prospects for enhancing bilateral co-operation.
They focused especially on agriculture, education, tourism, infrastructure and investment opportunities.
The talks also dealt with the most relevant regional and international issues.
The Sierra Leone president was accorded an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at the Emiri Diwan.
His Highness the Emir later hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Maada Bio and his accompanying delegation.
A number of their excellencies the ministers attended the banquet.
