HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani has participated in the official opening ceremony of the Hanover International Industrial Fair, which was opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the presence of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, Hanover Mayor Stefan Schostok and German Engineering Federation President Carl Martin Welcker. The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to Germany, and a number of senior Qatari businesspersons as well as distinguished leaders and political figures and more than 100 CEOs from the world’s leading industrial companies, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) said in a statement yesterday. The participating Qatari entities will showcase the country’s leading initiatives, projects, services and products, opportunities and incentives available to investors and businesspersons looking to invest in various sectors in the country. Qatar is participating in the event as the official sponsor of the opening ceremony, while the MEC has arranged for a 990sq m pavilion involving 15 entities from the public and private sectors.
