Ooredoo Group chief executive Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani and Ooredoo Qatar chief executive Waleed al-Sayed have congratulated the seven Qatar Scientific Club members who won medals at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (inventionsGeneva).
The innovators showcased and represented Qatar at the event, which saw the participation of more than 600 inventors from 40 countries.
The senior management at Ooredoo Qatar welcomed the young scientists to Ooredoo Tower, where the team undertook a tour of the company’s headquarters and innovations lab.
They also received a gift from Ooredoo for their hard work and dedication.
Accolades won by the Qatar team at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva included four gold medals and two silver medals.
The gold medal-winning inventions were Nasser al-Marri’s portable house, Mohsin Hussein al-Sheikh’s project “Oxy” – a cooler for a water tank, Rashed al-Mohannadi’s “Seeb” health monitor for labourers at worksites, and Mohamed Hassan al-Jufairi’s “Sidu” – a robot that provides instructions for deaf children to learn sign language.
Saleh Sufran bagged silver for his “Sammam” invention, while Salem al-Shahwani and Mohamed al-Mohannadi won silver for their comprehensive vehicle fire protection system.
The Qatar team was headed by Rashed al-Ruheimy.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Saud said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Qatar Scientific Club to Ooredoo, not just to celebrate the six members’ win but also to discuss collaboration and support for the future.”
“The skill and innovation shown by the winning group is a proud moment for our country,” he added. “I congratulate everyone involved in the event and wish the winners the best of luck for the future.”
