The seventh edition of Senyar Festival concluded yesterday at Katara - the Cultural Village. Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, Katara general manager, honoured the winners amid a festive and celebratory atmosphere at the Katara beach. 
The festival aimed at reviving the marine heritage and tradition of Qatar and the region with regard to traditional fishing methods while using dhows. The competitions included those for family teams and youngsters in addition to the main contests. 
The team that won the first place was able to catch 199.8kg of fish, while the second one got 192.4kg and the third 186.4kg. There were six other winning teams occupying the fourth to 10th positions in this category with various quantities of fish caught through traditional methods. The first-place winner in the largest fish category was able to catch a king fish weighing 30kg. 
Three winners of the family team competition were awarded at the ceremony, while the participating youngsters each received a gift of a bag containing necessary fishing tools. The participating entities were also honoured at the concluding ceremony. These included the Ministry of Interior, Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Private Engineering Office, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar TV, Kuwait TV and others. 
The organising committee praised the success of the event at various levels as well as the big turnout throughout its various stages.
