A team of Iranian business persons recently visited Nepal embassy in order to discuss entrepreneurial prospects in the Himalayan nation. The three-member delegation included Mohammad Rasoul Abdul Rahman Shamsi, Abbas Ghorban Galledari and Mohammad Rahim Mohammad Mehdi.
The business persons are associated with Iranian Business Association. The meeting was arranged and co-ordinated by Mahendra Chaulagain, president of Nepali Business Association Qatar. During the visit, Professor Ramesh Prasad Koirala, Nepali ambassador to Qatar, highlighted various investment opportunities for Iranian business persons in Nepal.
The visiting team said they would visit Nepal soon and conduct a rigorous study of the investment areas, market, labour force and the existing laws and policies of the government.
Encouraging the team, the Nepali ambassador said that the economic indicators of the country were positive hinting at the right time and environment for the investment. “The country is moving toward political stability after a series of elections recently conducted. The current government is putting economic agendas on the top priority,” he said. He further pointed out hydropower, tourism and hospitality as the key areas for the investment. He said that it was good to note that Iranian business community had shown interest to invest in Nepal.
According to Mahendra Chaulagain, the Iranian team will visit Nepal soon. He added that his organisation’s main aim was to increase foreign investment in Nepal. He said, “Now, there exists more respect and more interest for Nepal and its people in the world community.” He said the Iranian business persons had shown interest to invest in energy, hydropower, hospitality, the airport, roads, industries and tourism sectors.
