5th Sustainability Summit in October

The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (Gord) has announced that the fifth edition of the Sustainability Summit 2018 will be held on October 23 and 24 under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.
The event is to be held in partnership with Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy as host sponsors, and with the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and the Qatar Petrochemical Company as platinum sponsors.
The 2018 summit, to be held at the Ritz-Carlton Doha, is expected to bring together sustainability advocates and environmental experts representing international agencies, research institutions, government bodies and other relevant organisations.
Gord founding chairman Dr Yousef Alhorr commented: “The success and excellence of previous sustainability summits, most recently the Summit 2017, has undoubtedly been a major driver of sustainability discussions in the region.”
“Sustainability Summit 2018 will also be an important platform for discussing the latest developments in climate change, renewable energy, materials and technologies for green buildings and sustainable environment and to bridge this knowledge to all the stakeholders in the society,” he said.
“The event aims to attract scientists and sustainability researchers from the Gulf and Arab countries and from around the world to exchange knowledge, ideas and insights in order to find solutions to the challenges related to sustainability and climate,” Alhorr added.
The summit will also provide networking opportunities for professionals and decision-makers, and empower companies and institutions by introducing them to new markets and giving them an opportunity to showcase innovative technologies and sustainability success stories.
The Sustainability Summit, an annual event organised by Gord, was last held in November, when it marked the 10th anniversary of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).
Since 2007, the GSAS has built a profile as one of the most comprehensive green building certification programmes, having more than 1,500,000,000sq feet of GSAS-registered master plans for cities, and more than 100,000,000sq feet of GSAS-registered building typologies.
