Luigi, Buffon and Diendo travelled almost 700km with their owners on a pilgrimage from Ritten, in northern Italy, to see the 81-year-old Pontiff, the Kaserhof llama farm told DPA.
Owners Thomas Burger, Thomas Mohr, and Walter Mair also presented the Pope with white socks and a pope’s cap made from alpaca fleece.
The llamas also paid a courtesy visit to Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, who has previously visited the farm in Ritten that also raises alpacas.
