Qatar and Panama signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the fields of education and higher education.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi, and Panama’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Luisa Navarro, signed the MoU.
The signing took place during a meeting between the undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Panama’s vice-minister of foreign affairs.
The two sides discussed aspects of co-operation in the education sector and means of developing them.

Qatar takes part in Kuwait Qur’an contest

Qatar will take part in Kuwait International Award for recitation and memorising of the Holy Qur’an for the year 1439AH (2018) at its ninth session, which begins today and lasts until the April 18.
Qatar is represented in the competition by Hamad Abdullah Tayes al-Jumaili in the category of memorising the entire Qur’an with recitation, and Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ali al-Hamri in the category of memorising the Holy Qur’an with recitation in ten readings.
Kuwait International Award for Holy Qur’an sees the participation of 138 contestants from 79 countries this year.
The event is one of the most important Qur’an competitions.

Qatar condemns Iraq bombing
Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the bombing that targeted a partisan headquarters in Anbar province in western Iraq, and resulted in deaths and injuries.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar’s firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and reasons.
The statement expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Iraq, and its wishes of speedy recovery for the injured.

Minister meets Thai ambassador
HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi has met the outgoing ambassador of Thailand to Qatar Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum.
Al-Muraikhi thanked the ambassador of Thailand for his efforts in promoting bilateral relations, and wished him success in his future assignments.

Qatar-Uganda ties reviewed
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi has met Adonia Ayebare, the Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations and President of the High-Level Committee on South-South Co-operation.
The meeting discussed the bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, as well as issues of mutual concern.

Qatar attends Arab labour meet
Qatar is participating in the 45th session of the Arab Labour Conference, which is being held in Cairo. Qatar’s delegation is being led by Yousuf bin Mohamed al-Othman Fakhro, undersecretary of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs.
