The Ministry of Municipality and Environment observed Earth Hour yesterday by turning off lights at its main buildings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The event was streamed live through the ministry’s social networking sites from its headquarters on the Doha Corniche, encouraging the public to interact with the global initiative to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment, the official Qatar News Agency reported. The MME’s celebration is part of the global event in the context of interaction with community initiatives to promote environmental safety and curb climate change.
